restoring

biodiversity

Through the ancient and sustainable

art of coppicing.

What We Do

Coppicing

Coppicing is a sustainable woodland management technique involving the periodic cutting of trees to ground level to encourage new growth. This practice enhances biodiversity, creates wildlife habitats, and maintains healthy ecosystems, ensuring the vitality and productivity of woodlands.

Products

One of the best things that can be produced from coppicing is high quality local charcoal. We produce charcoal directly from the coppice woodlands meaning it is 100% sustainable. In the future, as the woodlands begin to thrive, we also hope to supply beanpoles, fencing material and garden arches.

Workshops

Throughout the year we like to run regular workshops and events that can involve the local community. These can include rustic chair building courses, charcoal making, volunteer days and talks.

ABOUT US

Woodwose Coppice is a community interest company with the aim to improve biodiversity at it's core.

Many of our woodlands have become neglected over the last few decades. This has resulted in a decline in suitable habitats for many species of animals and plants. We know we can make a difference by managing these woodlands again through the traditional and sustainable technique of coppicing.
